BPC-157 is a synthetic pentadecapeptide. It is frequently utilized in preclinical laboratory models to study its effects on cellular migration and angiogenesis mechanisms.

About the compound

What BPC-157 is.

BPC-157 is a short chain of 15 amino acids, first identified in a protein found in the stomach. In animal and cell studies it has been investigated for effects on tendon and ligament tissue repair, gut lining integrity, and the formation of new blood vessels. That work is in rodents and cell cultures — not in people.

Research

What BPC-157 has been studied for.

A plain-language summary of the published work. Almost all of it is in cells and animals — where a study was done in people, it says so.

Full research entry
  1. 01

    Tendon and ligament repair

Rodent studies have looked at how BPC-157 affects the healing of cut or damaged tendons and ligaments, measuring how quickly tissue reconnects and how strong it is afterwards.

  2. 02

    Gut lining integrity

It was first isolated from a protein found in gastric juice, and much of the research follows that origin — animal models of stomach and intestinal damage measuring how the lining recovers.

  3. 03

    New blood vessel formation

Cell and animal work has investigated whether it encourages angiogenesis, the growth of new blood vessels, which is one of the mechanisms proposed for the repair findings.

  4. 04

    Nerve and muscle injury models

Smaller bodies of rodent research have looked at recovery after crush injuries to nerve and muscle tissue.
